Child Therapy
Child-focused sessions involving play, interactive activities, and skill building.
Who this is for
-
Ages 8-12
-
Looking for either single-session or ongoing therapy support
Signs your child may benefit from therapy:
-
Does your child seem anxious, sad, angry, or overwhelmed?
-
Are they avoiding friends, playdates, or activities they once enjoyed?
-
Are they struggling at school or having difficulty making friends?
-
Have you noticed changes in their eating habits or concerns around food?
-
Are you noticing behaviours that are difficult to understand or manage?
As a parent, it can be hard to see your child struggle and not know how to help. Whether they’re experiencing anxiety, low mood, behavioural challenges, school difficulties, or eating concerns, you don’t have to navigate it alone.
Therapy can help you better understand what your child is experiencing and provide them with the tools and support they need to feel more confident, connected, and able to thrive.
How child-centred therapy can help
Children don’t always have the words to express how they feel, so we use child-centred approaches that help them communicate and process emotions in ways that feel natural and comfortable.
Therapy can help your child express their feelings openly, manage difficult emotions, and develop healthier ways to cope.
Parent involvement is encouraged, with regular communication throughout therapy. Your therapist will share practical strategies you can use at home to support your child, strengthen communication, and build a deeper sense of trust in your relationship.
With a personalized approach, therapy can help your child feel understood, confident, and better equipped to thrive.

Can parents or caregivers be involved in a child or teen’s therapy?
Yes. For children and teens, family involvement can be an important part of the process. We’ll work with you to decide what level of parent or caregiver involvement is helpful, while still respecting your child’s privacy and age-appropriate needs.
What if my child doesn’t want to go to therapy?
If your child feels unsure about talking to someone new or thinks therapy sounds too “serious,” that’s completely understandable. Depending on their age, attending a session together can help them feel more comfortable.
Your therapist will also take the time to create a relaxed, welcoming environment where your child can feel safe, supported, and at ease. You can discuss details about how to talk with your child at a parent intake session or during the free 15-minute consultation phone call.
Is It My Fault My Child Needs Counselling?
It’s natural to wonder if you’re to blame when your child is struggling, but needing counselling doesn’t mean you’ve done anything wrong. Children can face challenges for many reasons, and seeking support is a positive step.
By looking for help, you’re showing your child that they’re supported, understood, and not alone. With the right child-centred support, children can develop the skills and confidence to feel better and thrive.
I'm concerned I don't have enough time or money for therapy
It’s understandable to have concerns about the time and cost of counselling. Therapy should feel manageable for your family, so flexible options may help, whether that means finding suitable appointment times or exploring different ways to access support.
Together, we can discuss an approach that fits your child’s needs and your circumstances, while helping you build practical strategies to support them at home. It may also be helpful to shift your perspective to view a season of therapy as a long-term investment in your child’s well-being. Therapy can help them share their feelings with you, be more effective at school, and overtime navigate life's ups and downs, which is priceless.
